Board members from the Potomac River Heritage Tourism Alliance joined the Board of the Accokeek Foundation on Saturday on board the Pride of Baltimore, a reproduction two-masted privateer during a joint Celebrating the Potomac with Pride event. The program celebrated the unique resources of the Potomac River including recreation, environment, and history. Highlighting the region’s War of 1812 history, the program included sailing of the Pride up river to engage Fort Washington in mock cannon battles, a play at National Colonial Farm highlighting the story of the nearly 4,000 slaves that escaped with the British to Canada and elsewhere, as well as other tours and programs on the site.
